In House of Mirrors, Brett Eduardz and Sofia Escobar prefigure form as content, creating works that playfully advance inquiries into the limits of human perception. The concept of the house of mirrors in the carnival funhouse stems from the famous hall of mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, constructed by French architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1678. Since then, the house of mirrors has come to connote confusion, disorientation, and a blurring between perception and reality. The mirror, as a tool of reference and of introspection, informs understandings of the self and the individual's sense of belonging within a specific time and place.

In this exhibition, the house of mirrors is reflected through Eduardz's dizzying collages and paintings, and Escobar's three-dimensional kinetic sculptures. As the works interact with one another and with the audience, fixed points of perception become lost within a maze of colours and shapes, challenging the viewer to abandon notions of realism in favour of imagination and play.
