Please be gentle is a group exhibition featuring three artists, Cindy Hill, Karice Mitchell and Devon Pryce, working across various media – sculpture, photography and painting. The exhibition explores bodies touching – themselves, and others. Being crushed under the weight of things both tangible and emotional. Hard and soft. Exploring how we lie together and apart. Alone with our thoughts and anxieties and desires. Reaching out to grasp for skin or a page or a screen; for comfort, for release. Exploring the personal and political sides of intimacy. Full frontal or private, or both, all together at once. Self-soothing and care as acts of personal intimacy. Running wild with fantasy and desire, while seeking comfort and safety in the arms of another. Wanting it rough but also gentle. Our crazy and complex, sexy duplicities.
